We are so excited to announce that our first EP release as a band will be hitting the shelves (...of Spotify/Apple Music 😉) this Summer 2023. It's about time! For those who don't know us or our story, here's the relatively short version = ok it's not that short;
Rhapsody Phoenix and Brian McPartlan started playing and making music together in the beginning of 2020, in a shared house on Maui, Hawaii. At the time we had two other amazing band mates, and made some incredible magic together. We were all aligned with a shared vision of true freedom for humanity, natural abundance, a shared love and deep relationship with nature and with Spirit/God/The Universe, and all desired to create around these most important topics to us, from a place of higher purpose.
The apocalypse hit in March and we seized the opportunity, spending the majority of our time jamming and creating new tunes (when we weren't at those mostly empty beaches).
We played our first show at the 2020 Maui (Virtual) Earth Day Festival. Side note, about an hour after the performance Rhapsody and Brian somehow created in it's entirety our song "I Am the Phoenix", based off poetry Rhapsody had written the night before during a severe migraine in which she could barely open her eyes.
About a week later, after nightly sessions of "Dark Crystal and the Age of Resistance", Rhapsody and Brian's relationship reached a new level, and a couple months afterwards the newly love struck pair ended up taking an unexpected break from the islands together. (Very much unknowing we'd be gone longer than a couple weeks)
We ended up finding ourselves in a pretty adventurous van life situation together for about 4 months, all around Oregon and California. Shasta in particular became a new home. The lands deeply spoke to and through us, birthing many new songs and visions, with so much divine connectivity and inspiration coursing through our veins at all times.
One thing kept leading to another and by Winter we moved in on some friends' land in Oregon, where we had our own cabin to ourselves. This is where we finally had some space to ourselves, some actual space 😂, and were able to use this time for more creation and honing our many new songs. Especially with the addition of a new harp and piano, and Brian's mother's old banjo. New sounds and styles were coming through us, and HighersElves really was expanding and continuing to grow.
Fast forward a couple years of uncountable ups and downs, exciting adventures, dark periods of time, tragedy, beauty, so much light and so much dark... and here we are, hundreds of songs later, finally on course to release some of our alchemy to the world.
We think you're going to love it.
